The Island Is about to See the Day Again

Global warming may be changing the landscape of the Arctic. The Russian Defense Ministry said recently that the Russian Navy has discovered five new islands in the Arctic, which is the melting of glaciers that have caused these islands to emerge.
These new islands are located near the Arctic Vylki Glacier, away from the distant coast of the New Zealand Island, which is located in the Arctic Ocean in the northwest of the Russian mainland. They range in size from 900 square meters to 54,500 square meters.
According to the Russian Tass news agency, Russian expedition team leader Alexander Moisev said on the 22nd: "Basically, this discovery is related to the melting of glaciers." "These were glaciers, but the melting of ice led to the emergence of the island."
The Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian naval researchers have been using satellite data for years to study changes in the coastline. Between 2015 and 2018, they confirmed more than 30 new islands, capes and bays on the islands of Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land.
Scientists have warned that the emerging islands are not “accidents” but the direct result of the growing climate crisis caused by the massive melting of Arctic glaciers and sea ice. It is reported that the Arctic is heating up twice as fast as the global average.
